In the real estate arena, Wheeler Brothers focuses primarily on three types of real estate assets: net lease transactions, urban mixed-use development projects, and the development (or re-development) of anchored shopping centers in major metropolitan markets. In the net lease area, the firm has worked with many national companies to expand their office or retailing base through build-to-suits or sale leaseback programs. Corporations such as Barnes and Noble, Urban Outfitters and A&P Food Stores have been strong partners over the years.

Mixed-use projects featuring significant high-end residential components with support retail have become a mainstay for the Company. This development strategy has resulted in a number of new transactions including two Robert A.M. Stern projects: 10 Rittenhouse Square, a $200 million high-rise condominium project on Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia; 10 Inner Harbor, a $400 million high-rise condominium project in the Inner Harbor, Baltimore, Maryland. These projects have set the framework for similar new developments in urban markets throughout the United States.

For years, anchored shopping centers provided the founding base for Wheeler principals before the firm's recent entry into the residential arena. The development of power centers, grocery-anchored neighborhood centers and lifestyle centers comprise the nucleus of the firm's portfolio. In the last 12 months, Wheeler Brothers has been involved in the acquisition and development of over 750,000 SF of retail projects featuring tenants such as Lowes, Babies R Us, A.C. Moore and Shop Rite Food Stores.
